The Center for Public Integrity is looking for ambitious undergraduate and graduate students or recent graduates for a 10-week paid summer internship in Washington, D.C. The Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that produces original investigative journalism on issues of public concern. A motivating factor for our internship program is to help train and inspire the next generation of investigative reporters.
We seek committed and energetic journalism interns who are interested in the craft of investigative reporting. We usually pair our interns with experienced and award-winning reporters to work on one project during their time here. Assignments may include everything from poring through government reports, analyzing data, and conducting interviews.
Qualified candidates should have some reporting experience, strong writing skills, and a desire to pursue the types of issues we cover. Because our website is the main distribution platform for our work, we seek interns who also have experience in online media production, including, but not limited to: Web development and audio and video recording and editing.
Our interns see the direct result of their work in the stories they help produce or write themselves. Additionally, through weekly brown bag lunches, they will have the opportunity to meet with prominent professionals in the field of journalism and learn more about navigating Washington as a member of the media.
The deadline for Center internship applications is Feb. 15, 2010.
Please contact intern coordinator Caitlin Ginley at 202-481-1238 or cginley@publicintegrity.org with any questions.
