A daily roundup of just-released investigative reports, drawn from oversight agencies, congressional committees, and government offices across Washington.

DETAINEES: “Inquiry into the Treatment of Detainees in U.S. Custody” (Senate Armed Service Committee). Finds that CIA interrogation methods used at Guantanamo were based on techniques simulated in the U.S. military’s SERE resistance training and considered illegal when used against U.S. military personnel. Subsequently, some similar interrogation methods were adopted in Iraq and Afghanistan by the U.S. military.

ENVIRONMENT: “Hazardous Materials: Status of EPA’s Efforts to Assess Sites That May Have Received Asbestos-Contaminated Ore from Libby, Montana” (Government Accountability Office).
