DISASTER RESPONSE: “National Preparedness: FEMA Has Made Progress, but Needs to Complete and Integrate Planning, Exercise, and Assessment Efforts” (Government Accountability Office). Finds that, almost four years after Hurricane Katrina, gaps remain in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s preparedness for another disaster, including failure to define fully the roles and responsibilities of key officials and failure to track whether lessons learned from preparedness exercises are implemented.
