His work on health and environment has been featured in the Daily Nation‘s magazine, The Horizon. Okwemba won the first prize media award for Information, Communication and Technology presented by the Economic Commission for Africa’s Africa Information Society Initiative. He has trained journalists on how to report on HIV/AIDS, gender, and conflict in Kenya. He has been selected several times to travel globally for journalistic training programs sponsored by organizations such as WTO and UNICEF.
