Gerardo Reyes, United States/Colombia, is the Miami-based Latin America correspondent and columnist for El Nuevo Herald, the Spanish-language sister publication of The Miami Herald.

Reyes covers his native Colombia addition to other south and central American countries.His fields of of expertise are drug trafficking and corruption. His investigations have included examinations of the active participation of the diplomatic corps in the buying and reselling of goods on Cuba’s black market; the alliance between the United States and the Los Pepes criminal organization in order to ensnare Medellin drug cartel leader Pablo Escobar; and Colombian DEA informant Baruch Vega, a U.S. government informant who got caught up in a rivalry between the DEA and the FBI. He was part of the The Miami Herald team that won the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting in 1999 for a series exposing fraud in the 1997 Miami elections. In 2004 he was awarded the University of Columbia Maria Moors Cabot prize for his pioneering work in Latin American media. Reyes has also written a leading Spanish-language book on investigative reporting. He is the author of an unauthorized biography of Julio Mario Santo Domingo, the third largest brewer in the region.
