WASHINGTON, D.C., June 28, 2010 – The Center for Public Integrity, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is pleased to announce it has received grants from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Park Foundation totaling $1 million.
The three-year MacArthur gift of $750,000 is for operating expenses to help fund the Center’s staff of investigative reporters and editors. The $250,000 Park grant is for general operating support in 2010.
“We are profoundly appreciative of this support from the MacArthur and Park foundations,” said Center Executive Director Bill Buzenberg. “We depend on this critical support to keep the Center running and focused on significant watchdog reporting in the public interest.”
Over the past year, the Center has ramped up operations, hiring more reporters and publishing 456 stories in partnership with 21 media outlets. Last year, our work was cited 3,300 times in the press, online and in broadcast media.
