Key Findings:

• The Center for Public Integrity’s States of Disclosure project investigated state requirements for filing personal financial disclosures, posing the question: How easy is it to determine the private interests and potential conflicts of interest for public officials at the state level? Center researchers dug through the disclosure forms filed by members of executive, legislative, and judicial branches of state government to find out which states comply with their own rules.

• The project ranked the 50 states according to amount of information and easiest access to the disclosure forms. Individuals can look up the findings for their state, compare with other states, and view electronic filings in many cases.
