The Center for Public Integrity

Investigations Investigations

The Center’s investigation of the pharmaceutical industry’s lobbying might and gifts of free travel for members of Congress — and its resulting political influence and impact on the American public.

Key Findings:

  • This report examined the political influence of the pharmaceutical industry – the largest single lobbying sector in Washington. The Center for Public Integrity found that drug and health product manufacturers spend $182 million on lobbying. The 20 largest pharmaceutical companies (as of 2004) were profiled for the project, and industry lobbying and campaign donations were broken down according to state.
