As shown in the chart above, India was the only country that imported more than $2 billion worth of weapons in 2009. It’s neighbor, Pakistan, imported more than $1 billion in weapons itself. The data comes from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s Arms Transfers Database, which contains information on major conventional weapons transfers from 1950 to the present day.
