Key findings from our analysis of state-level contributions

Key findings:

  • At least 29 donors have given $1 million or more to state-level campaigns so far this election — more than 19 times the U.S. median household income.
  • At least 12 candidates for state-level office have poured $1 million or more into his or her own campaigns.
  • Cable television giant Comcast Corp. spread donations to candidates for state-level office across 36 states — sometimes they gave as little as $100 per candidate.
  • AT&T and Comcast are two corporations to make the million-dollar donor club to state-level candidates, with more than $2.8 million and $1.2 million respectively.
