Alexis Gravely

Emma Bowen Foundation Intern  The Center for Public Integrity

Alexis interned with the Center for Public Integrity for summer 2018 through the Emma Bowen Foundation. She is a rising senior at the University of Virginia, where she is assistant managing editor at the independent, student-run newspaper, The Cavalier Daily. She previously served as a senior associate editor for the News section of the paper, with her most notable work being her coverage of the August 2017 white supremacist rallies in Charlottesville, Va. Her reporting on Aug. 11 earned her a Virginia Press Association award for Breaking News. She is also a part of the highly selective Black on Campus 2018, a program for emerging black journalists sponsored by The Nation and The Anna Julia Cooper Center. During summer 2017, she interned at WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Va.
